Mumbai: 12 Dead After Fire Breaks Out at a Shop on kherani Road.

A Fire has broken out at the Farsan (Sweet) company at Khairani road., Sakinaka due to which traffic has been diverted on the Andheri kurla road.

Mumbai, December 18: At least 12 workers died and several others were injured after a major fire break out in a snack shop in Khairani Road, Sakinaka in Mumbai. The rescue officials are at the spot as operations are underway who are believed to be trapped under the slab that collapsed after the incident.
The fire broke out at Kharaini Road’s famous snacks shop Bhanu Farsan during the wee hours. The blaze started at around 4:30 am, Fire Brigade officials said.
At least 25 fire tenders have been rushed to the spot to douse the fire. Senior Police Sub-Inspector A Dharmadhikari said that the situation is now under control.
The fire spread to huge stock of eatables, cloth sheets and furniture, trapping many of the workers employed in the shop, according to the shop proprietor.
The cause of the fire is not clear, but around five to six workers managed to escape to safety, eyewitnesses said.people sleeping inside the shop were gutted into the fire while those sleeping outside the shop escaped unhurt, police said. The cops have launched a probe to investigate into the matter. The victims were admitted to Rajawadi hospital in Ghatkopar where 12 were declared dead on arrival.In another incident, a major fire broke out in a chemical unit in Turbhe node in Navi Mumbai last evening. The blaze started at the unit, located in TTC area, at around 5 PM. At least six fire tenders were rushed to the spot to douse the fire.
